◎ Creation + Amazon = e-book, baby!

November 28, 2012

Good news, everyone: Creation is back on Amazon as an e-book! (I wrote that sentence with the voice of the Professor from Futurama in mind. Go back and re-read it the right way!)

Creation is a provocative exploration of what it means to be free. Set in a dystopian future, several creative individuals remind us all never to take for granted the product of our own work and imagination. Creation is inspired by Ayn Rand’s Anthem and Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go.
Why not Zoidberg?
Now, I have three strikes against me. Creation is a novella I wrote and first self-published at age eighteen. In other words, I face three scary stigmas: short prose isn't worth the time, self-published authors put out nothing but sloppy drivel, and contemporary eighteen-year-olds can't write worth a damn.

You know what? Sometimes, those latter two are true (but definitely not the first!). I've read quite a few self-published works that made me want to pull my hair out, and there are plenty of eighteen-years-olds who, well, truly can't write worth a damn. Maybe I'm one of them. Maybe I'm not. Some of you will classify me and my novella in this camp, and hey--that's OK. For me to be classified in that camp would mean that people beyond my closest friend circles are reading my work and that I'm getting a true diversity of readers. If I had enough readers to elicit both good and bad reviews, I'd be doing Zoidberg's little dance, like, all the time and at all hours of the night. (And I'd be editing my newest manuscript simultaneously. Multi-tasking, baby!)

Without further ado, here's the link to Creation's Amazon page. Give the sample a read. If it's something you dig, I encourage you to add it to your e-book collection! If you don't have a Kindle, you can download the Kindle app for your computer or your phone online. (I use the app on my computer all the time!)

I have several misconceptions stacked up against me, but I am not deterred. I'm damn proud of this literary fiction novella, and I want you and everyone else to read it.

Defiant as ever!
With that out of the way, I hope you enjoy my re-published work!

P.S. I finished National Novel Writing Month TWICE this month! That's over 100K of first-draft material for me to edit come December!
